A New Hong Kong

There is a new Hong Kong out there. A Chinese Hong Kong. The people who built the city from the ground up finally control it. And they still have the blessings of British law to make it succeed (Hong Kong's laws have not changed significantly as a result of the handover). There are challenges ahead, such as the Asian financial crisis which has thrown the city into recession. But this monument to Chinese ingenuity and British commitment, surely, is here to stay. |
